Abstract

1,209,177. Automatic control of speed. HOLZER PATENT A.G. Oct.23, 1967 [Oct. 25, 1966; Jan.28, 1967] No.48034/67. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] The speed of an A.C. motor is controlled by a system in which the supply is electronically switched off when a predetermined speed n2 is reached and is switched on again at the expiry of a time determined by a timer. As shown, the switch-on occurs at fixed intervals too, regardless of the instant of switch-off, and is determined by a transistor astable multivibrator Fig. 7 (not shown), but in an alternative system Fig.4 (not shown), the time to is measured from the switchoff point, by the use of a mono-stable multi-vibrator Fig. 8 (not shown), which is triggered to its unstable condition by the switch-off signal. In both cases the speed is measured by a tachogenerator whose output is converted to a voltage (if not already in voltage form), a proportion of which is selected by a speed setting potentiometer. The electronic switch is a triac or thyristor circuit and its gating is synchronized with supply current zero. It is stated that the "off" time may be made subject to the load current.
