Abstract
1,209,117. Looms; weft control. NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP. 28 May, 1968 [29 May, 1967], No. 25560/68. Heading D1E. In a loom in which pairs of connected picks are inserted into the sheds in an unvarying sequence the weft guide fingers are moved between operative and inoperative positions via cam discs. The fingers 67, 68 are rotatably mounted coaxially adjacent a cutting and clamping device 24 and a presenter 84. The fingers swing the weft into the path of the presenter by means of pivoted levers 32, 33 mounted on the reciprocating second pick positioner 27 and alternately engaging followers connected to the fingers. The levers are alternately pivoted by arms 36, 37, pivoted about axis 35 by cam discs rotatably mounted on axis 45. The cams are of like configuration, but are diametrically opposed. The sequence of operation is as follows: The first pick of one yarn is taken as a loop into the shed and then straightened when released by clamp 24. The other finger is then moved to operative position and a second and a first pick of the second yarn are inserted. This is followed, when the first finger is again operative, by the interconnected pick of the first yarn.
