Abstract

1,209,063. Liquid developer. CANON CAMERA CO. Inc. Nov.9, 1967 [Nov. 11, 1966; Feb.3, 1967; Feb. 16, 1967; April 21, 1967], No. 51124/67. Heading G2H. A liquid developer for electrostatic images is in the form of an oil in oil emulsion in which the continuous phase is an insulating carrier liquid and the disperse phase with which the continuous phase is immiscible comprises fine droplets of liquid developer which is a film forming hydrophobic material containing not more than 10% by weight of volatile matter. The developer liquid may comprise polymerized oils, synthetic drying oil, ricinoleic acid or its esters, liquid paraffin, diphenyl tri- or pentachloride, polybutene and epoxy, polyester, xylene and acrylic resins, a pigment, a dye intermediate or polymer bonded colouring materials or reaction products of a colouring material and a material having a polarity control function as described in Specifications 1, 181, 287 and 1, 196, 749.
