Abstract

1,208,928. Ventilating fans. E. D. WYNN. 20 May, 1969 [25 May, 1968; 7 June, 1968; 7 Feb., 1969], Nos. 25127/68, 27130/68 and 6619/69. Heading F4V. [Also in Divisions F1 and H5] A slow speed fan, with its blades mounted horizontally, has electric heating means incorporated therein. An electric motor 3 drives the blades 6 at speeds in the range of thirty to seventy R.P.M. the blades being made of two sheet metal blanks of aluminium alloy with the edges of one blank turned over the other blank. The heating element in each blade may comprise a flat sheet of mica with electrical resistance wire wound thereon or may comprise a sheet of electrical insulating material with electrical resistance material applied thereto. In each case the element is enclosed between the sheet metal blanks. A switch enables the heaters to be switched off and the fan to supply ambient air, a red light 13 indicating when the heaters are on. A safety switch turns off the heaters if the fan stops rotating to prevent overheating.
