Abstract

1,208,675. Stud and socket fastenings; clips. HUTSONS Ltd. and A. C. LOUDEN. 6 June, 1969 [13 March, 1968], No. 12148/68. Headings E2A and E2B. A coupling device for interconnecting straddle slings to cargo containers, comprises a one piece casting or stamping having a shank 12 of rectangular cross section with an eye 13 at one end and a head 14, 15 at the other end and having a part 16 of cylindrical cross-section immediately above the head, wherein a plate or other member 18 is mounted to slide axially over one of the flat faces of the shank such that when the device is engaged in an elongated slot 11 of a container corner block 10 and the plate or other member 18 is thereby raised, subsequent rotation of the device through 90 degrees to bring the head below the top wall of the corner block, causes the plate or other member 18 to drop by gravity into the slot 11 thereby to prevent further rotation of the device until the plate or other member is manually raised clear of the slot. As shown the plate 18 is attached to a rectangular collar 17 which can be lifted by a handle 19.
