Abstract

1,208,543. Moulding handles. J. GUHSWALD. 19 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 25445/69. Headings B4K and B5A. Synthetic plastics handles contoured to fit the hand of the subsequent user are made by forming a crude handle with a substantially plane surface from a hardenable synthetics plastics material in a plastic state, impressing the shape of the subsequent user's hand into the handle by gripping and hardening the synthetic plastics material, e.g. by gripping. The crude handle may contain a core of a different material and the core may be hollow or contain means, e.g. a screw-thread, for fixing to a tool. A thin coating of porous synthetic plastics or a natural material may be provided on the crude handle, this skin forming a surface on the finished handle. The handle may be used for a knife, hoe, door, cycle or motorcycle handlebar, golf club or tennis racket.
