Abstract

1396424 Squash racket grip DUNLOP LTD 3 July 1973 [13 July 1972] 32758/72 Heading A6D [Also in Division B5] In a squash racket having a head, a grip and a shaft joining the head to the grip, the grip has a contoured surface configuration which defines the finger positions in which the grip is to be held. The grip 1 is preferably moulded from a cellular plastics material and has valleys 2 and ridges 3 which define the hand grip. It also may have a longitudinally extending hole 4 to accommodate the shaft of a racket. The grip may be covered with a towelling material or its surface may be textured, e.g. with lines or pimples to improve the 'grip'. The grip may be made by a moulding process in which a generally cylindrical rod of hand malleable material is hand gripped in the desired position to leave an imprint of the finger holds, the imprinted rod is used as a pattern to produce a mould and the grip is formed in the mould by a conventional process. The rod may be of modelling clay or wax and the mould formed in an epoxy resin or metal as a two part mould. Examples of compositions for the grip are given.
