A ticket processing system for use on omnibuses comprises a ticket issuing machine generating a signal representing the fare stage and recording the entry fare stage on a ticket a validating machine for receiving a ticket and coins and recording a destination fare stage on the ticket, and an exit machine receiving said signal from the ticket issuing machine and comparing said signal and destination fare stage on an inserted ticket to control an exit barrier. The ticket issuing machine has two switches set by the driver to generate a fare stage signal and a keyboard for entering class of ticket and fare due. The ticket issuing machine records magnetically the entry fare stage and fare due and prints the entry stage, destination stage, and fare due. During the journey a passenger inserts his ticket in a validating machine together with the necessary money. The fare due signal and money received are compared in a register and a destination fare stage signal magnetically recorded and the word PAID printed, if sufficient money is inserted. A change-giving mechanism is included to refund excess money inserted. The fare stage signal generated by the ticketissuing machine is fed to a first register in the exit machine. The destination fare stage signal on a ticket is fed to a second register and the contents of the two registers compared. If the contents in the first register are less than, or equal, the contents in the second register, the exit gate is released. If a passenger travels beyond the fare stage paid for, an excess fare display is illuminated.
