1315998 Ticket issuing PLESSEY CO Ltd 7 Dec 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 45331/70 Heading G4T Apparatus for use on public transport vehicles includes a ticket issuing machine, a time device and recording means, for receiving signals from both the ticket issuing machine and the time device and for providing a record, e.g. in the form of punched or magnetic tape, of both the time of issue of each ticket and other data relating to each ticket issued. The other data may be the ticket value, the fare stage at which the ticket was issued, or whether the ticket was for a child or an adult. A device for generating signals indicative of the fare stage or particular section of the vehicle's route may be manually reset each time the vehicle enters a new route section or may be automatically reset when the first ticket is issued in a new route section; these signals are also fed to the recording means. The time device may be a resettable electronic clock. To identify the recorded tape, the route number or vehicle identity may also be recorded. A device for converting the recorded tape into computer compatible tape may be provided. The computer may perform certain operations on the presented data to give results, which are recorded on a further tape. This further tape may then be used to activate a visual display device enabling evaluation of performance details of the vehicle's operation. The apparatus may be carried by vehicle personnel or fixed to the vehicle floor or walls.
