Abstract

1,208,250. Electron beam apparatus. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. 27 Sept., 1967, No. 9178/70. Divided out of 1,206,623. Heading H1D. An electron permeable window for a cathoderay tube used for recording information on a recording medium 4, comprises a membrane 1 supported by and bonded to an external support 3 provided with a slit or an array of small holes 2 (of which only one is shown). The radius of the holes should be about 100 times the thickness of the membrane and may be 5 microns. Preferably the recording medium 4 is spaced from the support 3 by a distance d equal to l(R - r)/r, where l is the thickness of the support 3, R is half the distance between centres of adjacent holes, and r is the radius of the holes, and should not exceed twice this value. A magnetic field may be provided adjacent the window as in Specification 1,206,623.
