Abstract
1,208,213. Filters. ELTRO G.m.b.H. & CO. GES FœR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK. March 25, 1968 [March 25, 1967], No. 14196/68. Heading G2J. A filter to protect the eye or instruments against damage by optical radiation comprises two different filter media which have equal refractive indices at one radiation intensity and different refractive indices at a higher radiation intensity. Both media are preferably disposed in prismatically limited bodies, the filtering effect taking place by total internal reflection. One of the media may be a solid dielectric substance, which is dispersed in a liquid, a thermoplastic substance or a duroplastic substance as the second media. If two solid media are used, their contact may be contoured. The filter may be disposed in the plane of the entrance pupil of a telescope eye-piece.
