Abstract
120,813. Mead, A., and Wood, C. C. Dec. 17, 1917. Metal-heating furnaces.-A furnace for heating rods, bars, &c., is constructed with a. floor a having a single slope or a double converging slope for a part of, or for the full length or breadth of, the furnace, and an opening at the lower end of the slope provided with controlling-means and giving access to an inclined channel b<1> leading to the outside of the furnace, also provided with controlling-means. The controlling-means preferably consist of one or more wedge-shaped sliding blocks d and a door or shutter c. The bars roll down the slope and, when discharged, are received on a guide f , which delivers them to a conveyer g, preferably of the vibrating or reciprocating type. They are finally delivered to an oil bath or other receptacle.
