Abstract

1,207,926. Boots &c. RIEKER & CO. 3 April, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 17713/69. Heading A3B. [Also in Division B5] A flexible sheet metal insert 9, providing spaced apart lugs 6 for the mounting of a gripping lever 12, is moulded into a plastics ski boot upper 4 with the lugs 6 spaced away from the walls of locating recesses 5 in a mould part 1. The lugs 6 are provided with holes 7, through which the plastics moulding material 3 penetrates to form a key, and with projections 8 which locate against the wall of mould part 1. The lugs 6 may have a uniform coating of the moulding material 3 thereon or may have preformed plastic sheaths 10 mounted thereon which may be removed after the moulding operation or may remain to act as bearings for the gripping lever pivot 11, when the sheaths 10 are of a stiffer material and may be provided with projections at the base thereof keying into the plastics material 3. The lugs 6 and sheaths 10 may be bored for pivot 11 before or after the moulding operation.
