Abstract

1,206,955. Mineral-mining machines. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 19 July, 1968 [21 July, 1967], No. 33685/67. Heading E1F. In a mineral-mining machine having a rotary cutter head 4 air entering an intake chamber 12 within the head is urged by radially extending fan blades 15 within the chamber to pass into and through radial ducts 13 leading from the chamber to the curved periphery of the cutter, said air being then discharged over said periphery. The fan blades may have a fixed relation with the head or may rotate relative thereto. Water spray means are associated with the head for inducing air to enter the chamber as in the referred to Specifications 1,098,706 and 1,187,768 for causing suppression of dust at the cutting means of the head.
