Abstract

1,206,725. Refrigerating. CONTROLS CO. OF AMERICA. 26 July, 1968 [29 Aug., 1967], No. 35767/68. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F2] A heat pump system comprises a compressor 72, a four-way reversing closed centre valve 74 and two coils 68 and 70, there being disposed between the two coils a valve whose construction is such that it functions with equal reliability regardless of the direction of fluid flowing through it. The valve is operable by a bimetallic strip (28, Fig. 1, not shown), which is surrounded by a coil connected to a thermistor 88, the latter being associated with the compressor suction line. In operation, the position of the reversing valve 74, determines whether the coils are isolated from the compressor, as shown, or so connected to it that they give a heating or a cooling function.
