Abstract

An acoustic window to protect Asdic and similar transducers from disturbances in a surrounding liquid consists of adjacent sheets 14 of a material impermeable to the liquid and a material of greater tensile strength, the former being nearer the transducer, and a frame surrounding the transducer to which the sheets are attached; the impermeable sheet, which may be of solidified rubber latex, is pressed against the outer sheet, which may be made of a polyethylene terephthalate fibre, by liquid pressure derived from a tank 19. Details of the frame are shown in Fig. 2 (not shown).
