1,205,767. Anti-fogging coatings. NATIONAL PATENT DEVELOPMENT CORP. 26 July, 1967 [26 July, 1966; 5 July, 1967], No. 12878/70. Divided out of 1,205,764. Heading B2E. [Also in Division G2] A glass or plastics element has deposited thereon a light-transmitting, optically clear, non-fogging coating comprising either (i) a homopolymer of a water-soluble hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate, or (ii) a copolymer of a major amount of a water-soluble hydroxyalkyl acrylate or methacrylate and a minor amount of a polyfunctional cross-linking monomer, e.g. a glycol diacrylate or dimethacrylate. In Examples the coatings are applied, from a solution of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) in methanol, to a glass plate for use as a vehicle wind shield, window or mirror, and to a polymethyl methacrylate aircraft windshield.
