Abstract

1,205,592. Yielding mine roof supports. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 5 April, 1968 [25 April, 1967], No. 19038/67. Heading E1E. [Also in Division F2] A yieldable support for a mine roof comprises a cylindrical tube 10 having a series of dimples 12 circumferentially arranged thereabout to permit deformation under load. The tube 10 may be provided with a socket or spoked seating to receive a wooden pit prop 16 or constitute a stilt for a metal pit prop or arch section. Again, the tube may be used in association with other yielding supports, be disposed between adjacent curved, arch-sections or incorporated in a multi-legged chock. For details of the above arrangements together with modified base plates, dimensions and other minor aspects, the Specification and Figs. 2-13 (not shown), should 'be referred to.
