In a system of the type described in Specification 1,205,347, the profile of the flexible record strip (42) is flattened by means of deformations of the surface of the transducercarrying rotor (22) which disturb the flow of the boundary layer of air on which the record strip rides. These deformations may consist of various arrangements of grooves and raised portions (Figs. 4 to 13).
