Abstract

1,204,411. Dyeing polyamides with anionic dyes. COURTAULDS Ltd. 20 March, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13635/68. Heading D1B. Polyamide textile materials are dyed with anionic dyes by impregnating the polyamide with an aqueous liquor containing a polymeric cationic auxiliary agent capable of forming a complex with the anionic dye which is less stable than the addition product of the dye and textile, heating the liquor to at least 85‹C adding the dye dissolved in water and completing the dyeing preferably at the boil. The anionic dyes include acid wool dyes 1.1 and 2:1 metal complex dyes, chrome dyes and reactive dyes, the cationic auxiliary agent may be a protein hydrolysate containing an ethoxylated stearaylamine. The polyamide may first be treated by applying an anionic blocking agent which is exhausted onto the fibre before adding the cationic auxiliary. A scouring agent may be present during the initial heating period and winch or beam dyeing machines may be employed.
