Abstract
1,204,216. Colour television tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1453/68. Heading H1D. The rim of the face plate of a shadow mask tube is provided with a number of thickened parts 3, Fig. 2, in each of which is provided a recess 4 and an adjacent cavity 6 adapted to be engaged by pins or springs on the shadow mask to secure the mask in place. As shown in Fig. 3 the cavity 6 may be lined by a metal tube 18 extending through the envelope and forming an electrical connection through a resilient member 24 to internal coatings on the cone 23 and on the screen 2 as well as providing a connection to the shadow mask (not shown). As shown the tube 18 is sealed by a packing ring 19 but other forms of vacuum-tight sealing may be used. The co-operating members on the shadow mask may comprise springs suitably shaped to enter the cavity (Fig. 6, not shown) or pins mounted on springs secured to the mask (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown).
