Abstract

1,203,452. Selective signalling. VIZGAZDALKODASI TUDOMANYOS KUTATO INTEZET. 4 Sept., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 40405/67. Heading G4H. Liquid level is measured directly in digital form by an array of electrode pairs interconnected by diodes, the electrode pairs being progressively immersed as the liquid rises. In the preferred embodiment. Fig. 2, a three-bit monophylic binary output 11, 12, 13, is produced. The principle or operation can be seen from the least-significant bit array (right-hand column). When the water 10 covers the two electrode pairs 4a1, 5a1, as shown, current will flow from the positive terminal 1 via both electrode pairs in series and back to the negative terminal 2, producing a certain potential at the output terminal. However, when the water is lower, for example between levels 3 and 4, the electrode pair 4a1 is not immersed, no current flows and a different potential is produced at the output terminal. The monophylic output from the array shown in Fig. 2 may be converted into a corresponding number of pulses (Fig. 3, not shown) by applying clock-pulses to a monophylic counter until its output is the same as the liquid level output.
