Abstract

1,203,217. Trays. C.C.M. HONNYWILL. 10 Nov., 1967 [11 Nov., 1966], No. 50775/66. Heading B8P. A rectangular tray, e.g. for fruit, comprises four corner posts with their upper ends projecting vertically beyond the sides of the tray, each post having ends each comprising a projection and recess, the projections and recesses being so arranged that when the tray is stacked on a similar tray in one position the projections engage with recesses of the lower tray, and in a second position the projections abut the projections on the lower tray. As illustrated the posts are of triangular section. A tray positioned above the tray indicated and with the same orientation will be stacked (Fig. 3, not shown) with projections 11 being received in recesses 13, and if turned through 180 degrees the projections 11 and 12 will abut (Fig. 2, not shown). The posts may be made of wood and may be formed from a single piece of wood or overlapping pieces of triangular section. The posts may be made of plastics, pulp, or glass fibre reinforced resin. In one embodiment the tray has wooden sides and bottom and polypropylene posts.
