Abstract
1,202,304. Driving pipes into the ground. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 29 Aug., 1968 [14 Dec., 1967], No. 41234/68. Heading E1F. A pipe is driven longitudinally into the ground using piston and cylinder units which apply traction forces to the pipe in a number of steps with the units being relocated between steps, and which then apply thrust forces to the pipe in a further number of steps. As described a pipe to be driven horizontally into the ground is mounted on a framework in a trench. A pressure ring bears against the end of the pipe and is connectable by draw rods to the rams of the cylinders which are mounted in recesses in the sides of the trench and which react against spaced lugs on the framework. To apply thrust forces the rods are removed and the cylinders are placed on the other side of the pressure ring.
