[Also in Division B2] Garment foreparts and chest parts are - reinforced by applying to the inner surface of the top cloth of the garment part at least one layer of a synthetic resin material and heating the material sufficiently to cause it to adhere to the surface. The synthetic resin material may comprise polyvinyl chloride, a vinyl chloride - vinyl acetate copolymer, a polyester, a polyamide, a polyester-urethane, a polyether-urethane, a polybutadiene, a butadiene copolymer, a polyacrylate, or a polyolefin, e.g. polyethylene or ethylene copolymer. The synthetic resin material may be treated such that during heating it is caused to foam. The material may be applied to the top cloth in the form of a powder, plastisol or a dispersion or emulsion which may comprise water, a liquid hydrocarbon, acetone or ethyl acetate, and may also contain a thickening agent, e.g. a cellulosic material, a polyacrylate, clay or fine divided silica. The thickening agent may be present in such an amount that the dispersion or emulsion has a viscosity at room temperature of the order of 20,000 cps. The synthetic resin materials may be applied as a continuous coating, as a discontinuous, random or controlled, distribution. The material may be applied through a perforated roller, by spraying or layering, or through a perforated sheet, the sheet having holes of size and disposition dependent upon the desired zones of reinforcement, e.g. holes of diameter of 1/20 to # inch. The material may be heated by hot air or by dielectric, conductive or microwave heating. The top cloth may be placed, inside surface up, in a female die having the shape of the garment part to be produced, the synthetic resin material distributed over the surface of the cloth, and the die heated to adhere the material to the cloth, e.g. by a suitably shaped heated male die
