Abstract

1,201,624. Photographic type-composing. MONOTYPE CORP. Ltd. 14 Nov., 1968 [14 Nov., 1967], No. 51822/67. Heading B6W. [Also in Division G4] A plurality of generators 17 e.g. semi-conductor lamps or magneto-optical cells, are selectively operated to project similar images on to a film 19, the images lying in a straight line crossing the direction of relative movement between the images and film 19 whereby character images are built up. Film 19 may be moved transverse to its length by a rack and stepping motor 26, or the line of images may be swept across the film to record a line of characters. Generators 17 may be energized selectively in succession to record each character as a matrix of dots, or they may be energized to record each character as a pattern of parallel lines across the film.
