Abstract

A matrix printer with adjacent printing elements (41 A-41N) offset at an angle (//c) to the horizontal line direction and shifted vertically (V) sufficiently to allow the centers of horizontal lines (42, 43) of successive dots to be spaced more closely than would be possible if the centers of adjacent elements had to be vertically spaced by the diameters of the adjacent elements.
