Abstract

A matrix of display elements constitutes a traffic sign with groups of elements, each forming part of a symbol and connected by a light guide to a single light source and chosen so that in at least one case a group can be used as part of two or more symbols. The (1) elements combined with (2) elements to form symbol 60 can alternatively be combined with a third group, not shown, to form a double diagonal for SW to NE in a rectangular frame. <IMAGE>
