Abstract

1,201,295. Travelling wave shedding looms. RUTI MACHINERY WORKS Ltd. 31 March, 1969 [29 March, 1968], No. 16844/69. Heading D1E. In a travelling wave shedding loom a row of dents 31 are pivoted at 29 and cam shafts 23, 24 act one on each arm of the dents to oscillate them about the shaft 29. The dents act to support and propel a dummy shuttle 18 and also to beat up the weft at 34. The healds 36 are mounted on the opposite side of the dents to the cam shafts 23, 24. Guides 32 of stamped steel sheet or plastics material are arranged in spaced parallel relationship to separate the dents. The bearing 38 which locates the cam shafts 23, 24 above the dents can be moved in a horizontal direction parallel to the plane of the guides 32 to vary the movement of the dents and hence vary the firmness of beatup. In a modification (not shown) the guides 38 are separate for each roller and can be moved towards or away from each other to produce the same effect. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,136,690.
