1,201,269. Imidazole derivatives. MERCK & CO. Inc. 22 Dec., 1967 [6 Jan., 1967], No. 58316/67. Heading C2C. Novel imidazole derivatives of the formula wherein R 1 is H or NO 2 and R is C 1-3 alkyl or H are prepared by chlorinating the appropriate 2-alkylimidazoles, and, if desired, nitrating the resulting 2-(α-chloroalkyl)-imidazoles. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,123,049.
