Abstract

1,201,163. Electric selective signalling. ETAB. POUR APPLICATIONS ELECTRONIQUES. 10 Nov., 1967 [17 Nov., 1966], No. 51304/67. Heading G4H. Apparatus for monitoring the operation of detectors 1A, 1B, ... 1N (Fig. 1) is such that when one detector e.g. 1A is operated all the succeeding detectors 1B ... 1N are sequentially operated and supply a constant current signal to a common line 4. By measuring the magnitude of signal on the line 4 e.g. with an ammeter 5 the identity of the first detector to operate may be determined. The detectors are preferably connected to constant current generators 2A, 2B ... 2N e.g. thyratrons or a semiconductors. A battery (B, Fig. 2, not shown) may be connected across the detectors (D1 ... Dn), resistors (R1 ... Rn) being connected to the detectors and to the common line. In a further embodiment silicon controlled rectifiers (Q1 ... Qn, Fig. 3, not shown) or thyristors are actuated when the associated detectors (D1 ... Dn) are operated. The apparatus may be used to identify e.g. a detector operated by a fire or a detector which did not return to its inoperative position in response to a control signal.
