Abstract

1,201,154. Adhesive coated foamed polymer. W. R. GRACE & CO. 5 Oct., 1967 [5 Oct., 1966], No. 44537/66. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] A sealing strip comprises an elastically deformable core of rectangular cross-section of a foamed polymer, the core being surrounded by a water-proofing contact adhesive composition. The core may be foamed natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. polychloroprene or other foamed synthetic polymer, e.g. polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, or butyl rubber. The contact adhesive may be a bituminous composition. In the example the adhesive comprise 7 parts natural rubber and 93 parts oxidised bitumen. The strip was used to seal a gap between two abutting concrete surfaces. Other types of adhesive compositions mentioned include polychloroprene, butyl rubber, oil based mastics or compositions containing rosin or rosin derivatives. The core may be coated with the hot adhesive composition or by cold deposition
