Abstract
1,201,048. Shearing. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. 10 Nov., 1967, No. 51306/67. Heading B3W. A shearing line for heavy plates includes two opposed edge trimming shears 1, 2 and shears 3 for lengthwise cutting comprising a curved cutter which executes a rocking movement and a straight cutter. Further shears 30 for transversely cutting the plates follow a lengthmeasuring device 32-37 associated with driving roller 31. After a predetermined number of revolutions of the roller 31 an actuating device 35 stops all the drive rollers in the shearing line and the shears 30 effects a cut. One or both edge trimmers is/are displacable inwardly to accommodate different plate widths and the shears 3 are also adjustable transversely of the feed direction when the shears 3 follow closely on the edge trimmers. If the edge trimmers 1, 2 and shears 3 are spaced apart at least by the length of a plate to be cut, driven guide bars (15), (16), Fig. 1 (not shown), are provided to shift the plates laterally before they are fed to the shears 3. The plate support at the shears is wide enough to allow the widest plates to be cut on or off the centre line. The shears 3 comprises a lower stationary cutter (514), Fig. 4 (not shown), and an upper curved cutter (413) actuated by a double crank arrangement (72)-(76) to rock as it is reciprocated. The cutter (413) is guided by stops of cycloid shape, one fixed (120) and one displaceable (123) and the stroke of the shear is adjusted by simultaneous rotation of clamp nuts (79), (Fig. 5, not shown) one on each of four vertical columns 78 connecting the upper and lower shear frames 76, 77.
