[Also in Division C3] A liquefied starch having a D.E. of 9-30 and which has been prepared by steam heating an aqueous starch slurry in the presence of Ca<SP>+</SP> and Na<SP>+</SP>, optionally in the presence of amylase, followed by two further amylase treatments (see Division C3) is further degraded to dextrose syrup using amyloglucosidase at pH 4À5 and 60‹ C.
