Abstract

1,200,744. Printing-apparatus. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK KOENIG & BAUER A.G. 7 Dec., 1967 [10 Dec., 1966], No. 55669/67. Heading B6C. A plate cylinder 1 is provided with means for adjusting both the axial and the circumferential register comprising driving means 24 for rotating the cylinder about its axis, first adjusting means 19, 21 coaxial with the cylinder for shifting it axially, and second adjusting means including a socket-like member 10 supporting a helical gear-wheel 7 which engages the drive 24 so as to rotate the cylinder to adjust the peripheral register. Rotation of a hand wheel 17 screws a bushing 15 into or out of a housing 16 whereby a thrust bearing 11 moves the member 10 and the wheel 7. The axial movement of the wheel 7 rotates the stub 4 of the cylinder via members 8 and 9. Rotation of a second hand wheel 22 about a threaded extension 21 shifts the rod 19 axially and this movement is transmitted to the cylinder via a thrust bearing 13 and a bushing 12. The adjustments are fixed in position by clamping plates such as 26 and indicators such as 23 are provided for each adjustment. The hand wheels are axially adjacent but the adjustment means may be disposed at opposed ends of the cylinder.
