A sawtooth comprises a longitudinal recess 2 of V-shaped cross-section in the leading edge, and a carbide tip 3 formed with a correspondingly-shaped surface brazed into the recess. The tip, which may be tungsten carbide, totally fills the recess and may have parallel sides 5 equidistant from the sides 6 of the tooth or divergent sides 15. The sawtooth may be on a rotary, straight or chain saw.
