Abstract

1,200,610. Friction members. DURIAWERK KARL KEMPF G.m.b.H. 11 Dec., 1967, No. 56265/67. Headings F2C and F2E. [Also in Division C7] Parts such as clutch plates having a grooved or notched sintered surface layer are compacted with a flat press tool to force surface material into the grooves. A powder layer applied to a backing plate is presintered, compacted with a ridged press tool to form grooves, sintered and finally compacted with flat press tool. A clutch plate with a spiral groove and a flank angle of 30-90 degrees and a total groove surface area of 20-35% may be produced, for a clutch running in oil. The oil enters the groove and cools the plate.
