Abstract

1,200,168. Sieve drum driers. VEPA A.G., and FARBWERKE A.G. 14 Jan., 1969 [3 Feb., 1968], No. 2064/69. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] A wet web of textile material 6 is dried by passage round at least one suction sieve drum 1 having a wire mesh covering, at least one interior baffle 2 and infra-red heaters 5 located around the portion of the drum covered by the material. Two baffles 2 (as shown) may be used to provide suction only at the feed and discharge portions of the drum. Tensioning means, e.g. pin chains, hold the material around the sieve drum in width-tentered condition. Rotary heater baffles 7, switch-off means and fresh air blower may take effect in case of stoppage. Groups of heaters may be switched on and off separately. The web may be passed round a plurality of suction sieve drums in series, the first only being heated (Fig. 2, not shown). The material may be of polyamide or polyester/cotton.
