Abstract
1,200,066. Wells &c. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 19 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 57713/67. Heading E1F. A method of mounting conductor pipe in an unconsolidated underwater formation from a floating drilling structure comprises detachably securing a piece of conductor pipe 34 to the drill string 22 carrying bit 42, attaching guide lines 54 to the top of pipe 34, lowering the pipe to the well location by the string, pumping fluid down the string to wash-out a hole for the pipe, detaching the string from the pipe when the pipe has reached the desired position, drilling a hole with the bit to receive a second conductor pipe of smaller diameter than the pipe 34, pulling the string, lowering the second pipe and guiding it with lines 54 so that it passes through said piece of pipe and into the hole, cementing said second pipe to the formation and filling the annulus between the pipes with cement, and attaching well-head equipment to the top of the second pipe.
