Abstract

1,199,693. Hydraulic fluid. NAPHTACHIMIE. 19 Sept., 1968 [22 Sept., 1967], No. 44653/68. Heading C5F. An hydraulic fluid comprises, by weight, (a) 40-80% water, (b) 8-30% monoethylene glycol and/or monopropylene glycol, (c) 8-30% water-soluble polyoxyalkylene glycol of M.W. over 5000, (d) 0À5-5% of a salt obtained by reacting a C 6 -C 12 straight chain saturated aliphatic acid with an excess of from 30-150% with respect to the stoichiometric quantity, of an organic nitrogenous base, (e) 0À1-1% of an oxyalkylation product obtained by reacting ethylene oxide, or a mixture of ethylene oxide and other alkylene oxides with a C 8 -C 18 fatty alcohol, the molecular ratio of alkylene oxides: fatty alcohol being from 6 to 20, and (f) up to 4% conventional anti-corrosion and anti-rust additives. Preferred components are (c) poly- (oxyethylene-oxypropylene) glycol of M.W. 6000-10,000 in which the ratio of the oxyethylene groups to the total number of oxyalkylene groups is from 0À6 to 0À9; (d) the reaction product of caprylic acid and N-dibutylamine, and the reaction product of alumic acid and triethanolamine; (e) the reaction product of 10 moles of ethylene oxide and one mole of octadecyl alcohol; and (f) borax and sodium nitrite.
