[Also in Divisions E1-E2] Apparatus for lifting a pre-cast building slab 3 together with flying scaffolding (not shown) supported thereunder by cables 14, 141, includes cables 8, 81 and arms 9, 91 pivotally mounted in a hollow casing 11<SP>1</SP>, 15, 15<SP>1</SP>, each arm being connected to the appropriate cables, e.g. 8, 14, to one side of the vertical axis through the pivot 10, both when the arm is in its operative horizontal position shown, and when the arm is in its inoperative vertical position (Fig. 2, not shown). The arms engage in recesses 17 formed in the sides of apertures 61 through the slab.
