Abstract

1,198,501. Linear polyesters mass-coloured with reactive phthalocyanine dyestuffs. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Dec., 1967 [3 Jan., 1967], No. 335/67. Heading C3R. [Also in Divisions C4-C5] Linear polyesters are mass coloured by polymerizing the polyester-forming components in the presence of one or more dyestuffs Pc-XR) n wherein Pc is a phthalocyanine dyestuff radical free of sulphonic acid groups, X is a direct link or divalent group and R is a hydroxy C 1-6 alkyl or acyloxy C 1-6 alkyl radical, and n is 1-8. In Examples dimethyl terephthalate and ethylene glycol are polymerized in presence of manganous acetate and copper phthalocyanine dyestuffs containing 2, 3 or 4 of the following groups -XR:- -CH 2 .O.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 OH, -CH 2 .NH.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .N(Et).C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .NH(CH 2 ) 6 OH, -CH 2 .N.C 6 H 4 .O.C 2 H 4 OH,-CH 2 .S.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .SO 2 .C 6 H 4 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .C 6 H 4 -O.C 2 H 4 OH, -SO 2 NH.C 2 H 4 OH, -SO 2 N(Me).C 2 H 4 OH, -SO 2 NH.(CH 2 ) 4 OH, -SO 2 NH.C 6 H 4 .O.C 2 H 4 OH, -COO.C 2 H 4 OH, -COO.(CH 2 ) 3 OH, -COO.(CH 2 ) 4 OH, -S.C 2 H 4 OH, -S.C 6 H 4 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH, -S.C 6 H 4 .CONH.C 2 H 4 OH, -S.CH 2 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH, -SO 2 .CH 2 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH, -NHCO.C 6 H 4 .O.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .O.C 6 H 4 .O.C 2 H 4 OH, -CH 2 .NH.CH 2 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH, and -CH 2 .NH.C 6 H 4 .COO.C 2 H 4 OH.
