Abstract

1,198,351. Die casting machines. FRY'S DIECASTING Ltd. 28 Jan., 1969 [8 Feb., 1968], No. 6327/68. Heading B3F. A die casting machine has an ejecting device comprising a stripper 14, a mechanism for automatically moving the stripper into position between the movable part 12 of the die and the casting after the die has opened and ejector pins have operated, for moving it forwardly, i.e. to the right in Fig. 1, to strip the casting from the ejector pins and for returning the stripper to its initial position, this last movement being effective only in the event of unobstructed movement of the stripper to its final forward position, and a device operative upon return of the stripper to its initial position to initiate a casting cycle of the machine. The stripper, which may consist of two or more spaced fingers 14 on a plate 13, is moved into position by a pneumatically operated piston 17 in a cylinder A. On completion of its downward movement, an actuator 16 actuates a spring-returned valve V4 to cause a piston-rod 18 of the cylinder B to shift the cylinder A and the fingers 14 to the right to strip the casting from the ejector pins. Provided the piston-rod 18 can move the full distance to the right, it is automatically returned to its left-hand position and the piston-rod 17 is also caused to rise.
