A pre-stressed reinforced concrete post I has cap 4 of stressed rods 2 engaging holes 5 in projection 15 of an aluminium or synthetic resin cap 3, which has a central screw threaded hole 6 corresponding to a hole in the base of an exchangeable part 10 through which a nut 8 passes. The exchangeable part 10 may receive a fence rail 9 or have a projection for securing barbed wire or a traffic indicator.
