Abstract

1,196,693. Valves. KING VALVE CO. 25 March, 1968, No. 14166/68. Heading F2V. A pilot operated valve comprises a spool 28 fitted with polyethylene balls 29, 29A each of which co-operates with a pair of fruato-conical seats 17, 24; 17A, 24A to control communication between inlet 19, work ports 35, 35A and exhaust ports 33, 33A. The spool is carried at its ends by diaphragms 26, 26A and moves in response to the pressures in chambers 30, 30A. These pressures are controlled by a similar solenoid-operated spool 43 having polyethylene balls 44, 44A thereon. The balls render the valves self-cleaning. Each valve housing is of sandwich construction and the components thereof can be assembled with any desired orientation. The diaphragms can be omitted, in which case the control pressures act directly on the spool ends.
