Abstract

119,585. Blades, H. Dec. 19, 1917. Junction boxes; sleeve couplings.-Boxes and like fittings, or the cables themselves, are supported in a cradle or cradles mounted on balls or equivalent anti-friction bearings so that the cradles may move freely in any direction under the pressure arising from the expansion of the cable. In the construction shown, the joint boxes b in an inspection pit are supported by pairs of cradles d freely movable on brackets j. The upper part of the cradles is shaped to take the box, &c., while the lower part is formed by a pair of metal plates holding the steel balls in pcsition. The brackets j are provided with edge projections k to limit the movements of the cradles.
