Abstract

1,194,913. Reactors. BROWN, BOVERI/ KRUPP REAKTORBAU G.m.b.H. 14 June, 1967 [18 June, 1966], No. 27544/67. Heading G6C. In a test reactor, a rod shaped test body is moved through the toroidal core inside a tube of shielding material. The body is exposed to radiation as it passes a window in the tube wall and is rotated within the tube about its longitudinal axis. In an alternative form, where plate shaped test bodies are investigated, the core is formed in two pieces spaced apart by two neutron absorbing plates between which the test body is moved. One plate is provided with a window and a masking neutron filter. Changes in reactor power level are measured by ionization chambers to indicate the physical characteristics of the test body.
