Abstract

1,193,901. Barrier actuated by fluid pressure. GODWIN WARREN ENG. Ltd. 6 Jan., 1969 [5 Jan., 1968], No. 769/68. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F1] A barrier 11 which lies flush with the ground to bar access, is operated by piston-cylinder when not in use, and is raised about pivots 12 units 15, and has a locking device 19, operated by piston-cylinder unit 20, which prevents unauthorised lowering of the barrier to its inoperative position and remains operative even if the fluid supply lines are sabotaged. Raising of the barrier by the main fluid system (double lines Fig. 4) causes operation of a detecting valve 22 in the auxiliary fluid system (single lines Fig. 4) which in turn causes operation of a valve 36 in the main fluid system to cause the bolts 19 to be extended to underlie the bottom margin of the front shroud 17 of the barrier. Thus if the fluid supply line 32 is cut to depressurize the main fluid system the barrier will be lowered slightly, but will then rest on the bolts.
