Abstract
1,193,290. 4,5,6 - Tri(methylsulphonyl)- pyrimidine. AGFA-GEVAERT A.G. 28 Oct., 1968 [31 Oct., 1967], No. 51031/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions C3 and G2] 4,5,6 - Tri - (methylsulphonyl) - pyrimidine is obtained by dissolving 4,5,6-trichloropyrimidine in methanol and introducing methyl mercaptan at 5<SP>‹</SP> to 10‹ C. Sodium hydroxide solution is then added and when the mixture has been cooled to 5‹ C. water is added and chlorine is introduced oxidizing the corresponding thioether to the required sulphone.
