Abstract

1,193,254. Electrolytic preparation of siliceous compounds. PETER SPENCE & SONS Ltd. May, 22, 1967 [May, 26, 1966], No.23518/66. Heading C7B [Also in Division C1] Novel compounds of the formula (Na 2 O) n SiO 2 xH 2 O wherein x is greater than or equal to 0À1 and n lies between 0 and 0À5 and having active properties (defined), are prepared by removing or at least partially removing the cation from a solution of active sodium silicate of the formula (Na 2 O) m SiO 2 yH 2 O wherein y is greater than or equal to 0À05 and n lies between 0À5 and 1À5 by either electrolysis in a cell with a lead anode and a mercury cathode or electro-osmosis, the temperature being maintained at or below 60‹ C. The compounds are used in the preparation of zeolites.
